Cops use pepper spray in Riverside arrest

A Riverhead man was hit with pepper spray and arrested after a drug-fueled tirade directed at police early Wednesday in Riverside, authorities said.
Southampton police found Willie Bryant, 29,  on Flanders Road about 1:30 a.m. after they received a call for a suspicious person walking in the street. After questioning, Mr. Bryant became irate, started screaming obscenities and stood in the road blocking traffic, officials said. Mr. Bryant, who police said was high, was sprayed after allegedly refusing to listen to police orders.
He was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead for treatment for injuries from the pepper spray and released.
He was charged with resisting arrest, unlawful possession of marijuana, appearing in public while under the influence of drugs and disorderly conduct, officials said.
