Aquebogue-Jamesport

Last weekend was very busy! While I was trying to fit everything in that we needed to do, it just did not all go as planned! Oh well!

As I drove past Colorful Gardens on Saturday morning, I was regretting that I had to keep going rather than stop at the garden seminar. However, I noticed that there were many cars there for an early Saturday morning! Michelle DeVito told me that the first complimentary seminar was very well attended! As the summer continues, Colorful Gardens on the Main Road in Jamesport will continue to offer these free gardening seminars with a new topic each week! This week’s topic is “Sustainable Kitchens: The Simplicity and Abundance of Herbs.” Again, the seminars are free, but it would be nice to have you call Michelle at 722-5400 to register for this Saturday, May 8, at 10 a.m.

Also this Saturday, May 8, St. Isidore School is hosting its Annual Ladies Luncheon at the Vineyard Caterers in Aquebogue, from noon to 4 p.m. The tickets are $40 per person. There will be a cash bar and a chinese auction. The first 100 tickets purchased will include a free sheet of tickets for the chinese auction. Call St. Isidore School for more information, 727-1650.

Last week I mentioned that Dayspring Dance and Performing Arts Center is hosting its annual Mother’s Day bake sale at Walmart on Saturday, May 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The bake sale will raise money for the center’s upcoming production, “Alice Through the Looking Glass,” which they will perform in the middle of June. Come out and purchase some great treats for Mother’s Day and support this very talented local performing arts group!

Old Steeple Community Church and the Community Center for the Blind and Sighted are sponsoring a Blessing and Celebration of the Animals service on Saturday, May 15, at 11 a.m. All are welcome to join them for the service and to stay for fellowship. Please have your animal restrained on a leash, in a carrier or in an enclosed container for its protection. I wish we could be there with our CCI dogs, but that day in particular is crazy for us! Please support these efforts and bring your animals and yourselves for a special blessing! Any questions, call Old Steeple Church at 722-3070.

I want to wish all you moms a very special Mother’s Day! Remember the old saying: “The hand that rocks the cradle, rules the world.” We have a special vocation in this life and the greatest impact for the world. God bless you all on this special day! Also, thanks to my four children, David, Anna, MaryAngela and Johanna, for making motherhood a joyous adventure!
