Machete wielding man caught driving drunk with kid in car

Southampton Town Police arrested a Riverside man Friday night afer he chased “several people” with a machete near Phillips Avenue Elementary School and then took off in his car.
Carlos Tezen, 26, was caught after police found him driving while intoxicated on Ludlam Avenue in Riverside around 8:30 p.m. Friday. His 3-year-old son was in the backseat of the vehicle without the proper child safety restraints, police said.
After stopped, Mr. Tezen presented police with a fraudulent North Carolina driver’s license. He was charged with felony driving while intoxicated, third degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, second degree menacing, fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon, and endangering the welfare of a child. He was also found to have entered the United States illegally and was to be held for removal proceedings, police said.
Mr. Tezen’s son was returned to his mother at the scene of the traffic stop, police said.
