Ummassage was originally opened in 2006 in Manhattan. In 2007, owner Joni Friedman relocated to the North Fork and brought the business to Greenport.

“Massage therapy is a synergy of intuitive and thoughtful bodywork. My intention with massage is to educate people about their bodies, comfort the body under stress, and alleviate or eliminate pain,” said Ms. Friedman. “I combine many different modalities, tailoring each massage to the individual. With the aid of pure and organic oils, herbs, plant and flower essences, and heat, my massage therapy sessions achieve a synergistic effect of pain relief, relief from stress and a feeling of euphoria.”

In addition to providing massage services such as deep tissue, pregnancy, sports massage, raindrop treatment with essential oils, hot stone treatments and body exfoliating scrubs, Ms. Friedman has been earning certifications in oncology massage and massage for breast cancer and augmentation.

Acupuncturist and massage therapist Rachel Reich brings her specialties in prenatal massage, Tui Na, Chinese dietary therapy and herbal medicine to the practice.
