Car hits school bus and drives off; no kids injured

No passengers were injured in a Riverhead School District bus accident Monday, authorities said, though several students were aboard at time. The accident was reported to town police about 4 p.m.

Superintendent Diane Scricca said the bus was stopped near the railroad crossing on Meeting House Creek Road in Aquebogue when it was rear-ended by a small car that then drove off. The bus continued on its route after the accident, she said.

“No one was hurt,” she said. “There was really minimal damage to the bus.”
