Riverside man convicted in 2008 traffic death

John Licausi

A Suffolk County jury convicted a Riverside man of aggravated vehicular homicide and second-degree manslaughter Friday for the 2008 death of a Manorville man, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office.
Prosecutors said John Licausi of Riverleigh Avenue ran a red light at a Medford
intersection May 8, 2008 and struck a compact car, killing 46-year-old Scott Foster
of Manorville.
Mr. Licausi, 50, was high on cocaine and fleeing police when the fatal collision occurred around noon at Horseblock Road and Old Medford Avenue, according to the DA’s office.
The jury also convicted Mr. Licausi of driving while ability impaired, unlawfully fleeing a police officer, reckless driving, three counts of failure to stop at a stop sign, two charges of failing to stop at a stop light and one count of speeding, the DA’s office said.
Deliberations in the trial, which began May 13, got underway Thursday.
Mr. Licausi faces a maximum of 12 1/2 to 25 years when he is sentenced on July 13.
