Robert A. Brooks Sr.

Robert A. Brooks Sr., 78, of St. Augustine, Fla., passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2010, at his residence, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.

Robert was born on Dec. 8, 1931, to William and Ella Brooks in Jamesport. After serving in the United States Navy, Bob made his home in Mattituck before moving to St. Augustine, He and his wife, Ginny, moved to Beverly Hills, Fla., in 1993 after he retired from Northrop Grumman, where he had served for 35 years and had become Fire and Safety Chief. After retirement, Bob was an active member of the Ostomy Group of Inverness and the Senior Men’s Bowling League of Beverly Hills.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Smith, and her spouse, David; his son Robert A. Brooks Jr. and his spouse, Emy; and his son Andy Brooks and his spouse, Toni. Also surviving him are 12 grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers, William and Joseph; and two sisters, Connie Kwasna and Janet Kirklewski. He was predeceased by his sister Patricia Averette.

A memorial service will be held for family and friends to reminisce and commemorate Bob’s wonderful life from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, in St. Augustine.
