Stanley E. Allen Sr.

Former Riverhead resident Stanley E. Allen Sr. of Port St. Lucie, Fla., died July 24 at St. Lucie Medical Center. He was 86.

He was born Oct. 3, 1923, in Brooklyn to Ruben and Margaret Allen.

Mr. Allen served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He later worked for the New York Telephone Company in Garden City for 38 years. He was a member of the Free Masons and the Moose Lodge.

Mr. Allen is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lois; his children, Dianne Pregler of Port St. Lucie, Lori Zsunkan of Freeport, Stanley Jr., of Stuart, Fla., Bradley, of Queens, and Tim, of Riverhead; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors Sunday, Aug. 1, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 2, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Aquebogue. Interment with military honors will follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
