Workers with E.W.Howell Co., LLC of Plainview began spreading
the concrete in Jamesport for the sidewalk project Friday
morning.

Construction has begun on a sidewalk that when completed will connect ten miles of a continuous pedestrian walkway on the north side of Main Road between Riverhead and Mattituck.
The 1.2 mile addition, which connects two existing walkways, will run from the intersection with Washington Avenue in Jamesport until Colonial Drive in Aquebogue, according to state Department of Transportation spokesperson Eileen Peters. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of the summer.
The project is part of a $940,000 initiative to install sidewalks in Jamesport, Aquebogue and Setauket. Of that money, approximately three quarters will be used for the Jamesport sidewalk, Ms. Peters said.
