Riverhead

The Riverhead Youth Bureau is offering three Friday trips for teens entering ninth through twelfth grades, families and community members. Children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult. On July 16 there will be a trip to Cupsogue Beach. Cost: $10. July 30 will see a trip to Great Adventure. The bus departs from Stotzky Park at 9:30 a.m. Cost: $95. A whitewater rafting trip in Lehigh, Pa., will be held on Aug. 13. Cost: $125, ages 5-13; $135, ages 14 and up. Bus leaves Stotzky Park at 5:15 a.m. All trips will be chaperoned by the Riverhead Youth Bureau. To register, call the Riverhead Recreation Department at 727-5744 or register online. Riverhead Fire Department will be celebrating the 75th anniversary of the “Ironmen” Drill Team by hosting the Suffolk County Parade and Drill Motorized Tournament on Saturday, July 10. Parade starts on Route 58 at the traffic circle and ends at the training grounds near the NYS Armory. The drill starts at 9 a.m. and the parade is at 6 p.m. Rain date is July 11. Come out and support the local fire department volunteers. Families are welcome for a day of fun.

Recent Riverhead High School graduate Christopher Linnen graduated with high honors from Eastern Suffolk BOCES’ aviation program, located at Brookhaven Calabro Airport. While there he received his pre-professional private pilot certificate and advanced ground instructor certificate. He was awarded the BOCES principal’s award and was also inducted into the National Technical Honor Society. Chris plans to pursue his academic career at Suffolk Community College, Eastern Campus, working toward a business administration degree with a career goal in aviation/airport management. He has also been accepted into Dowling College’s Aviation Program. Chris was part of a video interview by UltimateAlthleteMagazine.com, a new Long Island high school online magazine. Do check out the website and view the video piece. He is the son of Renee and Mark Linnen and the grandson of Georgiana Danowski and Edith Linnen. Big brother Brian and the entire family are proud of his accomplishment and wish him the very best.

Belated happy birthday to Cara Jacobs (who turned 18) and Robert L. Bugdin Jr. on July 2; Robert Bugdin Sr., who turned a handsome 70 on July 5 and celebrated at the North Fork Country Club with a dinner with his children and grandchildren; and Julia Buczynski (who turned 16) on July 7, with love from Mom, Dad, Andrew and Alec. Hope it’s a great year.
