Firefighters keeping busy in Riverhead

One day after four brush fires sparked up in Riverhead and Calverton, volunteers responded to reports of two more blazes just minutes apart Tuesday.
Riverhead firefighters quickly extinguished a brush fire that started about 5:45 p.m. on land adjacent to the post office on West Main Street and Mill Road.
Minutes later, a structure fire was reported at Town Hall West on 1295 Pulaski Street, the former Riverhead Building Supply office, though it turned out to be a false alarm.
