Irene T. Ehlers
Flanders resident Irene T. Ehlers died July 30 at her home. She was 55.
She was born Nov. 15, 1954, to James and Anna McDermott in Queens, where she was raised and graduated from high school.
On Nov. 8, 1975, she married Wayne Elhers in Riverhead. She worked for 17 years as a school bus matron for Riverhead Central School District.
According to her family, she especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband; children, Kelly Hartmayer, Robert, Wayne Jr. and Noel, all of Flanders; and seven grandchildren.
Family received visitors Aug. 2 and 3 at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead, where funeral services were held Aug. 4 by Father Robert Kuznik. Interment followed at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
