Genevieve E. Harris
Genevieve E. Harris of Riverhead died at her home Sept. 25 after a long illness. She was 89.
She was born May 17, 1921, in Riverhead to Andrew and Ethel (Adams) Prudent.
On May 4, 1942, she married John Harris in Norfolk, Va.
Ms. Harris was a secretary with Prudential Insurance in Riverhead for 44 years. A member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Polish Town Civic Association, she enjoyed reading, crocheting and playing cards, according to her family.
Predeceased by her husband in 1998, she is survived by her children, Carol Raffe and Gay Lynn, both of Mattituck, and Candace Brooks of Florida; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Family received visitors Sept. 29 at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 30, at Church of the Redeemer in Mattituck by Father Nils Bratz. Interment will follow at Riverhead Cemetery.
