Fire levels Riverhead garage
A garage at an abandoned home in Riverhead burned to the ground early Saturday, police said. No injuries were reported. Riverhead Fire Department volunteers arrived at the Northville Turnpike home at about 3:45 a.m. and put out the flames. The Suffolk County Police Arson Squad also responded to the scene. The cause of the blaze is under investigation, police said. Anyone with additional information is asked to call 727-4500.

Davon Delvalle, 18, of Riverhead was arrested about 10 a.m. last Wednesday on Northville Turnpike after he allegedly stole a bike and led police officers on a short foot pursuit through Riverhead, town police said.

Officials said he slipped through his shirt when they attempted to arrest him and fled before he was caught again. Mr. Delvalle was charged with resisting arrest. The bike was later recovered on nearby Rabbit Run. No additional information was available.

* Rona Simmons, 38, was arrested about 5:30 p.m. last Thursday on Lewis Street and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, town police said. Ms. Simmons was also arrested on an outstanding New York State parole warrant. No additional information was available.

* Kareisha Carle, 28, of Riverhead was arrested about 2:15 p.m. last Wednesday outside the Bass Outlet at Tanger Outlet Center, police said. She was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. No additional information was available.

* Someone broke into the Peconic Baking Company on Osborne Avenue in Riverhead Saturday and stole an undisclosed amount of money. The theft was reported about 7:30 a.m.

* Someone broke into Sindhu Grocery and Kabab House on Pulaski Street last Tuesday and stole $1,050, police said. The theft was reported about 2:15 p.m.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
