Sean Preston Carroll

Former Riverhead resident Sean Preston Carroll died Oct. 2 at his home in Rocky Mount, N.C. He was 27.
Mr. Carroll grew up in Riverhead and attended St. David’s Episcopal Elementary School before moving to Poinciana, Fla. He later moved to North Carolina with his family and was attending Nash Community College at the time of his death.
According to his family, “Sean is remembered by his friends and family as an intelligent, caring and witty young man with a passion for paleontology and social justice.” Family members also said he enjoyed listening to music, reading and watching science fiction films and television.
Mr. Carroll is survived by his father, John; his mother, Christine Bautista-Blydenburgh, and stepfather, Timothy Blydenburgh; and his grandmother, Liz Bautista.
