Catherine A. Bennett of Riverhead, known as “Babe,” died Oct. 2 at her home. She was 84.
She was born Sept. 30, 1926, in Bridgehampton to Robert and Margarite (McGoey) Carey. She was raised in Riverhead and graduated from Riverhead High School in 1944.
After living in Hawaii, Ms. Bennett moved back to Riverhead, where she worked as a secretary for the Riverhead Farm Bureau.
She was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead and, according to her family, enjoyed cooking and needlecraft.
Ms. Bennett is survived by her children, Marjorie, of Hawaii, and Robert, of Virginia; and her siblings, John and Dorothy Carey, both of Jamesport.
The family received visitors Oct. 6 at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 7, at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
