Joseph P. Casey

Joseph P. Casey of Riverhead died Sept. 22 at Stony Brook University Medical Center. He was 90.
He was born May 15, 1920, to George and Grace (Williams) Casey. He graduated from Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School in Brooklyn in 1938.
On Oct. 9, 1948, he married Justine Doroski in Riverhead. Mr. Casey was a state trooper with the New York State Police throughout Long Island for 26 years. He then went on to work for 23 years as an investigator for Suffolk County Legal Aid in Riverhead.
He was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead, and according to his family, he enjoyed golf and was a founding member of the Baiting Hollow Country Club.
Predeceased by his siblings George, Walter, Edward and Eileen, he is survived by his wife; daughter, Justine Swotkewicz; sister, Kathryn Lisankie; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Sept. 26 at St. John the Evangelist Church, followed by interment at the church cemetery. Arrangements were handled by McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead.
