Health Beat: Riverhead Free Library hosts immunization clinic

• Riverhead Free Library will host a seasonal flu and pneumonia immunization clinic administered by the Suffolk County Department of Health Services on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 5-7 p.m. There’s no fee for those with Medicare Part B for either immunization. Others will be charged $37 for the flu vaccine and $25 for the pneumococcal vaccine, payable by check or money order made out to SCDHS. No cash will be accepted. Call 727-3228, ext. 0 or ext. 106.
• Dr. Payaal Mehta will lead a free bariatric seminar, hosted by Peconic Bay Medical Center, from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, at East End Hotel Indigo in Riverhead. Dr. Mehta will discuss bariatric surgery and other types of weight-loss procedures and programs.  Prospective patients and family members are encouraged to attend.
