Funeral arrangements scheduled for Riverside man killed outside nightclub

Funeral arrangements for the Riverside man and retired New York State Supreme Court Officers captain who was killed outside a Hampton Bays nightclub Friday have been scheduled for this week.
The family of Mr. Petrusa, known to many as “Uncle Carl,” will be receiving visitors from 2 until 5 p.m. and from 7 until 9 p.m. at J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home on Ponquogue Avenue in Hampton Bays Tuesday. A funeral mass will be held at St. Phillips and James R.C. Church in St. James at 11 a.m. Wednesday followed by interment at Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery in Flushing, NY.
Mr. Petrusa is survived by his brother Richard Petrusa and his wife Sally of Pennsylvania, his niece Kathryn Pirreca and her husband Andrew of Smithtown and his niece Elizabeth Ryan and her husband Michael of Port Jefferson.
Mr. Petrusa, 64, was one of two men shot outside Dream nightclub in Hampton Bays following a melee over a costume contest early Friday morning. Mr. Petrusa died later that day at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue.
One man involved in the scuffle went out to his car, where he retrieved the handgun he used to open fire on the front entrance of the club, Southampton Town Police said. Southampton Police detectives said Mr. Petrusa was not involved in the fight.
No arrests have yet been made.
