  • I respectfully disagree. The rhetoric spewing from Palin, Limbaugh, Beck, and Levin is more visceral and hateful in tone than anything I remember in my lifetime. They are not true conservatives. They are entertainers. It has not been ‘discredited’ but rather is ‘push back’ by those who are the worst offenders. A true conservative would have nothing to do with it.

  • You don’t remember the Bush hate because it didn’t register with you. How can you say the current dialogue is worse when the liberal rhetoric against Bush had actual death wishes involved? Did you ever hear George Bush talk about “kicking asses” and “if they bring a knife we bring a gun” and “punching back twice as hard”? No, because that is Obama. And what about a Dem party chairman, Howard Dean, saying “I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for”? Did a conservative magazine ever write a story like the liberal publication the Nation did entitled “The Case for Bush Hatred”? Do you recall a CBS talk show putting the words “SNIPER WANTED” on the screen during Obama’s SOTU speech? No, because they did it during Bush’s speech. And what about a Nobel Prize winner publicly stating “I would like to kill George Bush right now”? Nicholas Baker wrote an entire book speculating about George Bush’s assassination. British TV aired “Death of a President” a fictional documentary about the assassination of George Bush. I guess you, along with the media, “forgot” about all this and countless other examples. So, you’ll please forgive conservatives for not taking liberals seriously when they get all worked up about a map with crosshairs on them. Its interesting that people refer generically to conservative vitriol and hostile rhetoric. I believe that is because there is not anything close to the ugliness cited above that liberals can really point to. All they have are generalities. It is all a transparent and cynical attempt to quiet an argument that is gaining traction.

  • Come on, Palin says “let’s take these liberals out” and when someone finally does it, her words mean nothing? People listen to all the garbage these lunatics spew; it is a wonder there haven’t been more political assassinations. Next you will tell me guns don’t kill people, people kill people. Ha!

I agree that Palin, Beck et al are entertainers. Their schtick runs on emotion and platitudes and stirring up the masses, not facts.

  • First, Palin never said what you wrote. Second, hasn’t it sunk in to you yet that there was no, zero, nada, zilch, zip evidence tying the murder in Tuscon to Palin’e rhetoric? In fact, he was more a liberal than a conservative. On top of that, there is no other murder you can point to. So, basically, your position is completely made up.

  • No, my position is that it is not a coincidence that a congressional district that Palin targeted on her website, along with the phrase “don’t retreat, instead reload,” led some lunatic to shoot one of the said district’s congresswoman, along with over a dozen other people. Connect the dots, if you are capable.

Another interesting fact is that after the shooting, the targets over the 20 (Democratic led) districts were immediately removed from her website. A member of Palin’s staff said that the symbols on the map were not gunsights, but surveyor’s symbols! What a joke!
