Barbara L. Madison

Barbara L. Madison of Calverton died Jan. 6 at the age of 84.

Born in Manhattan on July 18, 1926, she lived in Bayport, Massapequa Park and Holbrook before settling in Calverton in 1986.

A high school graduate, she worked for many years both full- and part-time as an x-ray technician in Smithtown and Riverhead until her retirement.

She loved all animals, especially cats, and took in all the stray and homeless felines that crossed her path. She was also an avid kayaker and until two years ago was a frequent paddler on the Peconic River.

Predeceased by her parents and her brother, Arnold, Ms. Madison is survived by a cousin, Lynette Dietz of Florida.

A memorial service will take place Friday, Jan. 14, from 3 to 4 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead.

Interment will be at a later date at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Farmingdale.
