Calverton column: fun for kids at pre-school program

A spaghetti dinner will be held at Baiting Hollow Congregational Church Saturday, Jan. 22, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tickets are only $9 for adults and $5 for children. For tickets, call Linda at 369-0307 or see any church member.

Looking for something for your children to do this winter? The Lyrical Children’s Preschool and Learning Center in Calverton will be having an open house on Jan. 29 to introduce those interested to the many fun programs they have for children ages newborn and up, such as classes in yoga, sign language, and music and art exploration. For more information visit lyricalchildren.com, or call 208-4003. Marie will be more than happy to help you. Get those kids out of cabin-fever mode and have some fun.

Here’s a fun way for you and your family to feed the birds and those pesky squirrels. First, attach a long wire to a pinecone. Mix one part cornmeal, one part birdseed and two parts peanut butter. Stuff the pinecone with the mixture. Hang it on a tree and watch them enjoy it. For another tasty treat, cut a bagel in half, spread some peanut butter on top and roll it in some birdseed. There’s not much food out there for them and this is an inexpensive way to make everyone happy.

Oh ye of little faith! I told you so! Our Jets were fantastic! It is so cool to be the top guys for once. What I mean is everyone is talking about the Jets. People I meet in the stores are talking about them, discussing strategies and patting each other on the back. They’re finally the top New York team and I am basking in their glory.

That’s all for this week. Take care, be safe and I shall talk to you next week. Jets, Jets, Jets! Bye.
