Health Beat: Caregiver training classes offered

Utopia Home Care is offering free caregiver training classes at its Riverhead office, 180 Old Country Road, on Thursday, Feb. 3. The sessions run from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break at 12:30 p.m. Training will include ambulating a person with a cane or walker; transferring a patient from bed to wheelchair and bathroom; turning and positioning patients; skin and incontinent care and use of a bedpan and urinal; and use of a Hoyer Lift.
