George P. Dietz

George P. Dietz of Aquebogue died Jan. 14 in Schenectady, N.Y., at the age of 84.

Born March 1, 1926, in Central Islip to Josephine and Frederick Dietz, he served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946 and later worked for many years at Grumman Aerospace Corporation in Calverton.

Predeceased by his wife, Virginia, in December 2010, Mr. Dietz is survived by his sons, George, of Texas, Thomas, of Florida, and Robert, of Saratoga Springs; his sisters, Agnes Regalmuto and Jeanette Zalak; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visiting hours are set for Wednesday, Jan. 19, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. Funeral services will take place Thursday, Jan. 20, at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead. Interment with military honors will be at St. John’s Cemetery in Riverhead.
