East End senator set to host environmental event

State Senator Ken LaValle is hosting a two-hour “roundtable” event Thursday night to discuss environmental issues facing eastern Long Island.

The discussion kicks off at 5 p.m. at Suffolk County Community College’s Selden campus, and all residents within the 1st Senate District, which runs from Port Jefferson and Selden in the west and covers the entire East End, are invited to attend the annual event in the Babylon Student Center.

The roundtable will be held in the Montauk Point Room 212. It ends at 7 p.m.

The more than 60 participants expected “will again help Senator LaValle chart a legislative agenda that continues efforts to preserve the character and quality of life in our region.”

Participants will include concerned citizens and students, state DEC officials and leaders and representatives from town and village governments.

State Assembylman Fred Thiele will also be participating in the roundtable event.
