Thirza M. Okula

Thirza M. Okula of Riverhead died at the Riverhead Care Center on Feb. 10. She was 91.

Born March 29, 1919, in Margaretville, N.Y., to Floyd and Emma Hinkley, she was a homemaker.

Ms. Okula was a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Riverhead Polish Independence Club and a regular participant at the Riverhead Senior Center.

Predeceased by her husband, Henry H. Okula, she is survived by two sons, Albin, of Riverhead, and Philip, of Shirley; a daughter, Thirza Grodski of Riverhead; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, Feb. 15, 7 to 9 p.m., at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. Cremation is private.
