Breaking News: Girls basketball playoff brackets released
The Riverhead Blue Waves received the home playoff game they were looking for when Section XI released the high school girls basketball playoff brackets this morning. No. 6 seed Riverhead (13-5) will face No. 11 William Floyd (9-9) in a Suffolk County Class AA first-round game on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
Shoreham-Wading River will also be home. The fourth-seeded Wildcats (11-7) will play No. 5 Miller Place (10-8) in a Class A outbracket game on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
Two local teams are in the Class C semifinals that will be played on Saturday. No. 3 Bishop McGann-Mercy (9-8) will play at No. 2 Pierson/Bridgehampton (8-10) at 5 p.m. No. 4 Southold (7-10) will have its work cut out, going on the road to face the League VIII champion and top seed, The Stony Brook School (12-5), at 6 p.m.
