Cops: Man on Xanax hit mom and kids driving in Flanders

A Southampton man, who was allegedly driving under the influence of Xanax, was arrested Saturday after he struck a car driven by a woman traveling with her two children, causing the vehicle to roll over, authorities said.

Morgan Croke, 58, was driving northbound on Flanders Road in Flanders just before noon when he veered into oncoming traffic and hit a Toyota Land Cruiser causing it to roll over several times.  The female driver of the Toyota, who police did not identify, was traveling with her 15-year-old and 5-year-old children in the car. The trio was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead for treatment of what police described as “non-life threatening injuries.”

Mr. Croke was found to be driving under the influence of Xanax. He was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, third-degree assault, second-degree reckless endangerment and reckless driving.
