Calverton: Riley Avenue plans ‘Cinderella’ performance

All is quiet at Riley Avenue Elementary School as winter recess approaches, but don’t miss your chance to see “Cinderella” on Saturday, March 12, at 2 p.m. at Riverhead High School. Jim Schaefer has been producing this play for about 24 years and it’s always a huge hit. Stay tuned for more details.

Parents can expect their child(ren)’s report card(s) on March 9. Good luck, kids!

Belated happy birthday to Jessica Hautsch, who celebrated Feb. 23 and will be married this July. Your mom and dad, your future husband, Steve, and many others hope you had a simply perfect birthday.

Happy birthday to my daughter Jamie, who celebrates on Feb. 26. I wish you a perfect birthday also, with no snow to trudge through and lots of fun with your friends. Best wishes from all of us, including the newest member of our family, your little niece, Julia. We love you so much and hope you have a great day. And happy birthday to my neighbor Joan Niegocki on Feb. 27, from your mom and dad, Betty and George, and all of us who know and love you dearly. Have a really nice day. Love to all three of you girls.

Get-well-soon wishes are being sent to my dad, Paul Troyan. He underwent surgery this past week and is doing very well, thanks in part to a visit from his granddaughter the Yorkie, Brooklyn. I will keep you updated on his progress.

What an awesome way to start the NASCAR racing season. At age 20, Trevor Bayne made history by becoming the youngest winner of the Daytona 500, and we witnessed it. Bring on the rest of the season!

The robins are back! Along with the red-winged blackbirds, they have moved back in at the farm and have devoured all the holly berries. Is spring here? Maybe.

Have a great week, be safe and I will talk to you next time. Bye.
