Ida D. Grodski

Ida D. Grodski of Riverhead died March 13 in Southampton. She was 85.

Born June 4, 1925, in Cutchogue to Joseph and Mary (Kobzenska) Zarzeski, she attended the Oregon School in Mattituck. She married Henry F. Grodski, and they made their home in Cutchogue and Gardners, Pa., for many years, until their recent return to Riverhead.

According to family, she was an avid reader and devoted homemaker.

Ms. Grodski is survived by her husband; her children, Stella Manna of Brooklyn; Henry, of Gardners, Pa., Thomas, of Boulder City, Nev., David, of East Quogue, and Dennis, of Willow Springs, N.C.; her siblings, Marie Kirwin of Southold, Anthony Zarzecki of Cutchogue, Louis Zarzecki of Orient, David Zarzecki of Mattituck, Nellie Falcigno of Mineral, Va., Josephine Sorensen of Florida and Rosie Zarzecki of Brooklyn; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours are Wednesday, March 16, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. The Liturgy of Christian Burial is scheduled for  Thursday, March 17, at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church in Cutchogue, officiated by Father Marian Bicz. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Cutchogue.
