Aquebogue-Jamesport: Church events and workshops at Hallockville

It’s spring! My backyard is teeming with birds and bunnies. I discovered two purple crocuses transplanted in the yard. I love garden surprises!

Take advantage of the spring classes and educational opportunities at Hallockville Museum Farm. As part of its ongoing Fiber Arts Workshop series, Hallockville is offering classes in needle felting and rug-hooking, which began last week. Irene Heckle-Volpe, an award-winning designer and creator of felted art pieces, has started a series of three classes, which began on March 14. Gail Horton is a well-known East End artist who has been hooking rugs for 30 years. She will teach her craft beginning April 13. All classes begin at 6:30 p.m. Just around the corner, in April, Hallockville will be offering “Springtime at Hallockville,” including their spring botany walk and activities for the entire family. The Nature Talk Lecture series and the 40 Days to Focus series are offered weekly as part of the Save The Grange campaign, hosted on Wednesdays and Friday evenings and Saturday mornings at Grange Hall. This week is Lutheran Schools Week at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Aquebogue. The classes will be celebrating with special shows and activities. Also, it is now time to register for the 2011-2012 school year. Living Water Full Gospel Church offers a show for every season and Easter is right around the corner! Many of you have contacted me to say that you took my recommendations and attended one of Living Waters’ shows and you were so glad that you did. Each week, I have been taking Johanna into NYU for ongoing consultations and treatments. The trip is exhausting, but the additional medical support and expertise has been very helpful.
