Cops seek help in finding cigarette thief

Police are asking for the public's help in identifying this person who stole 88 cigarette cartons from the Hess gas station on Route 58 in Riverhead

Riverhead Police and Suffolk County Crime Stopper are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person who stole 88 cartons of cigarettes from the Hess gas station on Route 58 in Riverhead in November.

Police said the suspect broke a window and entered the shop about 3:45 a.m. Nov. 23 and stole the cigarettes and $250 in cash.

Police did release a description of the subject, only two grainy stills taken during the crime.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.  All calls are confidential.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
