Edmund R. Mahoney, a former resident of Mattituck and Polish Town in Riverhead, died March 27 at home in Whitestone, Queens. He was 104.
He was born Nov. 14, 1906, in Cutchogue to Edward and Catherine (Garvey) Mahoney.
He was a farmer for many years and later drove a school bus, and on Sunday mornings he was a crossing guard at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Mattituck.
Predeceased by his wife, Bertha (née Krystopowicz), Mr. Mahoney is survived by his son, Robert; his daughter, Eileen; three granddaughters; and five great-grandsons.
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 2, from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. At 10 a.m. a celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place at Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Cutchogue. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
