Health Beat: Caregiver support lecture at Riverhead Free Library

• J. Kevin McLaughlin will address paying for care, including Medicaid eligibility, ways to protect assets, new laws related to powers of attorney, trusts, proxies and rights at a Family Service League free caregiver support program at Riverhead Free Library Thursday, March 10, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Call 369-0104, ext. 45.

• Cornell Cooperative Extension is hosting two upcoming health-related programs at its education center at 423 Griffing Ave., Riverhead. On Tuesday, March 8, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. there’s a professional training program for adults who work with girls between the ages of 9 and 12, dealing with the sexualization of young girls. The program will look at how girls develop their sense of self, peer influence, puberty, the media and adult influences. There’s a $25 fee.
On Thursday, March 10, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. there’s a professional training program on dealing with difficult children. There’s a $25 fee. Call 727-7850, ext. 340.
