Slide show: Lionel Train Exhibit at LI Railroad Museum

The newly arrived and reassembled Lionel Visitor’s Center toy train layout is going to be unveiled Saturday at the Railroad Museum of Long Island in Riverhead. Museum officials say it will serve as a learning tool and “a source of wonder and joy” for kids while helping Riverhead become a destination for hobbyists.

Donated to the museum by the Lionel LLC company,  this permanent exhibit, (designed after the 1949 New York City Lionel Toy Train Display), was moved from Lionel’s offices at Chesterfield, Mich. and restored by museum volunteers.
