  • Selvin Morales was charged with unlicensed driving as well (hence the “aggravated” part of the DWI).

Did the police not provide that information or did the News Review choose not to indicate that?

Since we know we have an epidemic of unlicensed, uninsured, and often drunk drivers on our roads, predominantly coming from a certain segment of the population which shall not be named, I’m wondering whose political correctness is suppressing the little tidbit about the DWI driver being unlicensed.

  • Here is the press release in its entirety:

The Southampton Town Police Department reports the following DWI arrests made in the early morning
hours on Saturday, April 23, 2011:

    1. At about 12:30 a.m. Southampton Town Police arrested SELVIN MORALES, age 33 of Riverhead
and charged him with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated. MORALES was stopped for driving
without headlights on Flanders Road in Riverside was found to be intoxicated. He is being held for
arraignment in Southampton Town Justice Court.

    2. At 4:47 a.m. Town Police arrested EMERSON ALVARADO, age 25 of Riverhead and charged him with Driving While Intoxicated. ALVARADO was stopped after he was observed operating his vehicle in an erratic manner on Flanders Road in Flanders and was found to be intoxicated. He is being held for arraignment.

  • It’s nice to see the News Review doesn’t feel the need to “sanitize” crime news like Newsday, and thanks for being so responsive.

Also, I was mistaken about the unlicensed status of the driver being the reason for the upgrade to aggravated DWI. It’s becuase his BAC was above .18 (extremely drunk). Unlicensed driving was a seperate charge.

  • Must be Supervisor of Sleaze’s idea of Downtown Revitalization. Maybe he can ask for Divine Intervention at his next Town Hall prayer session with the Roslyn School Treasurer and his “political conscience” to get the drug dealers, gangs and illegal immigrant rooming houses out of Riverhead.

  • Phil Cardinale supports amnesty for ilegal immigrants.

  • GUESS YOU MUST BE TALKING ABOUT THE CARDINALE ADMINISTRATION???? BY THE WAY RON THAT AREA IS SOUTHAMPTON. GUESS GEOGRAPHY WAS NOT SOMETHING THEY TAUGHT AT THAT IVY LEAGUE COLLEGE.

  • What happened Ray….the Supervisor of Sleaze’s garbage guy couldn’t get you tickets to the Elton John event?

Perhaps you need to mellow out with another trip with the 4 amigos to the piers of Lower Manhattan for new “cruising” opportunities.

When you get back have the “political conscience” pour you another one of those pink drinks with the little umbrellas.

  • Mr. Dump — why do you always have such nasty comments to make when it concerns the supervisor or his supporters. Take a look to see where these drivers were coming from before jumping to conclusions. If someone passes thru Riverhead and gets arrested is that the fault of the Supervisor if that person was arrested near or in Riverhead? Your and Mr. Ron Harrai should get away from Union Street more often. Riverhead does not need the negativity that you two bring to our town

  • It could as be because he blew over .18

  • Not to defend driving drunk. But facts are facts. Why report a criminal charge without describing the substance of the criminal offense?

  • Okay, these guys broke the law–and I get it. The Town Justice Court will handle this case….But pray tell, all the cheap shots?
