Blotter: Homeless man involved in two domestic incidents in two days

Southampton Town Police

A Southampton man who was allegedly driving under the influence of the prescription drug Xanax was arrested Saturday after he struck a car driven by a woman traveling with her two children, causing the family’s vehicle to roll over, according to Southampton Town Police.
Morgan Croke, 58, of North Main Street, Southampton, was driving north on Flanders Road in Flanders in a Nissan pickup truck just before noon when he veered into oncoming traffic near Red Creek Road and hit a Toyota Land Cruiser, causing it to roll over several times, police said.  
The Toyota’s driver and her 15- and 5-year-old children were taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead for treatment of what police described as “non-life-threatening injuries.”
Mr. Croke was found to have slurred speech, was unsteady on his feet and very lethargic, and could not stay awake, police said. He told an officer he had taken Xanax about an hour before the crash, and a Xanax bottle was found inside his car, authorities said.
He was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, third-degree assault, second-degree reckless endangerment and reckless driving, according to police .

• A Riverhead woman was hit on the head with a beer bottle Sunday night at the Budget Host Inn on Lake Avenue in Riverside, officials said.
The victim told police she and her sister were with an unknown man who gave her sister money to get beer and cigarettes. When her sister did not return the man become angry and hit the victim on the head with a beer bottle, causing a small laceration. The victim was treated  at Peconic Bay Medical Center but doesn’t wish to pursue charges, according to police.

• A town employee reported seeing a man with a yellow jacket and blue pants urinating in front of the David W. Crohan Community Center on Flanders Road in Flanders Tuesday afternoon. The man was gone when police arrived.
Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.

Riverhead Town Police

A 20-year-old homeless man was arrested last Thursday after two domestic altercations in as many days.
The first incident involving Joseph Panettiere and a victim described as a female acquaintance happened at the Wading River Motel on Route 25 last Wednesday, police said.
Riverhead Police were called but he had fled the area before officers arrived, officials said.
However, Mr. Panettiere was located the next day by Suffolk Police officers who were responding to another domestic incident in which he was involved, authorities said. Mr. Panettiere was turned over to town police at the Hess Mart on Route 25A in Wading River, where he was charged with first-degree criminal contempt and harassment.

• A 28-year-old Riverhead man, who was allegedly driving drunk, was arrested Sunday after he crashed into a car on Roanoke Avenue in Riverhead and tried to flee the scene, police said.
Jose Osorio-Armina was found just before 6 p.m. and charged with DWI, aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident and multiple traffic violations.
He was also found to be wanted on a bench warrant out of Riverhead Justice Court, authorities said.

• Walter Mimms, 25, who is homeless, was arrested on criminal mischief charges about 11 a.m. Sunday on Roanoke Avenue in Riverhead Sunday. No further details were available.

• An unlicensed Riverhead man was charged Friday after rear-ending another car near the McDonald’s restaurant on Route 58 in Riverhead. Timmy Craig-Wilcott, 26, told police the car in front of him stopped short while he was pulling out of the parking lot about 9:30 a.m.
Mr. Craig-Wilcott was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

• Melissa Detmer, 33, of Riverhead was charged with DWI about 3 a.m. Saturday after she struck another car while driving near the Atlantis Marine World aquarium on East Main Street in Riverhead, officials said.

• Donald Oliver, 36, of Riverhead was charged with DWI and first-degree unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle just after 10 a.m. Saturday, town police said.

• Ryan Brown, 41, of Riverhead was arrested at police headquarters about 10 a.m. Saturday on charges stemming from a burglary in Riverhead Town on Nov. 14, 2010, police said. Mr. Brown was charged with second-degree burglary.

• Three unidentified men fighting outside Digger O’Dells restaurant and bar on West Main Street in Riverhead damaged a window Friday afternoon. No charges were filed.

•Police discovered that numerous people were living in what appeared to be a large shed on Elton Street in Riverhead Saturday afternoon. No arrests were made.

New York State Police

• Cecil Elmore Jr., 24, of Riverhead was arrested by State Police last Wednesday and is now facing a slew of drug charges. Mr. Elmore was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of marijuana. No additional information was available.
