VERA CHINESE PHOTO | A motorcyclist and bicyclist were taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center after colliding with one another in Calverton Thursday.

A motorcyclist and a bicyclist were taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center Thursday evening after colliding at the intersection of Routes 25 and 25A in Calverton, according to Riverhead Town Police officers on the scene.

Wading River Fire Department volunteers attended to the two men, who were put in stretchers and loaded into separate ambulances about 7 p.m.

A Suffolk County Medevac helicopter landed in a nearby field, though it was not clear if one or both men were airlifted.

Both men were lying south of the road after the 6:32 p.m. crash, as several other bicyclists stood nearby.

Police on the scene said they did not know the extent of the injuries, and as of Friday no information had been released.
