A silver sports car and a fuel oil truck collided in downtown Riverhead Friday afternoon, jamming up traffic for about a half hour.

The car’s rear end was damaged and the East Moriches-based Jen-Ril company’s truck skidded onto the Peconic Avenue sidewalk, next to the Chase bank building.

The truck’s driver said both vehicles were headed north on Peconic Avenue when the crash occurred about 2 p.m.

No injuries or fuel spills were reported. The car was towed from the scene.

  • It’s a good thing that the oil truck didn’t have combustion that may cause explosion and further damages to properties and life. The road is a safe place if everyone that uses it is much disciplined to avoid such accidents and commotions.
