Every year The Riverhead News-Review presents one student from each local high school with its annual Student Journalism Award. Each student is awarded a certificate and small scholarship check.

The students received their awards during a ceremony at the Times/Review Newsgroup office in Matituck Thursday.

This year’s honorees are:

Faith Tricarico, Riverhead High School

Faith is involved in the NJROTC, as well as the newspaper, Spanish and arts club at the high school, from which she’ll be graduating this month.

She also has interests in dance, books, music and photography.

Faith plans to attend Briacliffe College for Business Management in the fall. Once she gets her associate’s degree she hopes to — in the own words — “focus on my true calling of writing.”

Zachary Burbano, Bishop McGann-Mercy High School

Zachary will be attending Hofstra University in the fall for biography/pre-medicine with the ultimate goal of becoming a physician.
