Riverhead: John Mendreski Memorial Golf Outing coming up

Fly away this summer by joining the Adult Summer Reading Club at Riverhead Free Library for an armchair traveler’s journey around the world. Wow! You can read or listen to any book for a chance to win prizes in the weekly raffle drawings. You can also check out the library’s preferred reading list for more chances to win. Check out the travel narratives, biographies of explorers, memoirs set in exotic locales and a whole lot more. The adventure begins when you pick up your reading club list and sign up at the reference desk at the library.

Joe Stepnoski, a 1991 graduate of Riverhead High School, is seeking other alumni from that class for a 20th reunion, to be held at Cherry Creek Golf Links in Riverhead on Saturday, July 30, from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. The cost is $60 per person and includes a cocktail party, open bar and a DJ. John Mendreski was the longtime principal of Pulaski Street Elementary School and a good friend to many in the community. All proceeds will go toward the John Mendreski Memorial Scholarship Fund, which benefits collegebound students from Riverhead High School.
