Doris I. Gray

Riverhead resident Doris I. Gray died June 17 at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. She was 84.

She was born in Vermont on Sept. 17, 1926, to John and Katherine Lucas and was a homemaker for most of her adult life. Family members said she loved to collect dolls and enjoyed music.

Predeceased by her husband, Merrill, in 1998, Ms. Gray is survived by her daughter, Laura Freeborn of Riverhead; her son, David, of Southampton; her sister, Anna Tice of Vermont; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours on June 20 at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead were followed by a service officiated by the Rev. Led Baxter. Interment was June 21 at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in East Hampton.
