The owner of Hamptons Fence in Flanders reported to police that a former employee illegally wrote out four company checks to himself and his mother totaling $11,395. Southampton Town Police officials said.
The complaint was filed last Tuesday and the alleged theft is believed to have occurred between May 27 and June 6, according to police, who said the employee was fired June 6. The four checks were written for $1,500, $2,900, $2,595 and $4,400. Two were made out to the suspect and two to his mother, according to police.
No arrests had yet been made as of Tuesday.

• Two radio transmitters valued at $5,000 apiece were reported stolen last Tuesday from a shed on County Road 51 in Riverside. The shed and the transmitters belong to WLIR radio, and the theft is believed to have occurred between June 19 and 21, police said.

• A Riverhead woman was pulled over for speeding and swerving about 1:30 a.m. last Thursday on Peconic Avenue in Riverside and was later found to be intoxicated, police said.
The woman, Victoria Martell, 36, of Sound Avenue in Riverhead, was charged with driving while intoxicated, speeding and moving from a lane unsafely, according to police, who also said she refused to take a breath test.

• Fifty packs of cigarettes valued at over $450 and two boxes of Snickers and M&Ms were reported stolen from the Valero gas station on Flanders Road in Riverside last Monday. Police said they believe the suspect may have broken the lock with a hammer, then entered the building and stolen the items. The incident is believed to have occurred about 12:30 a.m., according to police.

• It was reported to police that someone damaged solar lights valued at $70 on the front lawn of a home on Brookhaven Avenue in Flanders last Wednesday, officials said.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
