Baseball: Tomcats pile on the runs — 19 of them

The Riverhead Tomcats banged out 16 hits, scored in six of the nine innings and received four runs batted in apiece from Eric Romano and Frank Schwindel as they steamrolled the North Fork Ospreys, 19-3, in an Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League game on Sunday in Riverhead.

Romano enjoyed a 4-for-6 game and homered. Adam Michel drove in three of Riverhead’s runs.

Ryan Lukach earned the win, scattering seven hits and striking out six over five innings, during which the Ospreys scored all three of their runs.

Pat Brennan homered for the Ospreys. He had two hits, as did teammate Matt Carroll.

The result pulled the Tomcats’ record to 10-11. The third-place Ospreys, who had led the Hampton Division for most of the season, dropped to 11-11.
