Shoreham-Wading River: Violinist Amos Fayette featured in special concert at North Shore Public Library Aug. 19

Melaina Badalian of Shoreham, a 2011 Shoreham-Wading River High School graduate, was voted the school’s most outstanding musician this year. Melaina participated in the All-Eastern Honors Concert in Baltimore, Md., presented by MENC: The National Association for Music Education. The festival featured the most musically talented high school students from the Eastern region of the United States, which included 11 states, the District of Columbia and the American European Schools. This year, Melaina, who plays french horn, was selected for all-county band, all-state band and all-Eastern wind ensemble. She is also a member of the Shoreham-Wading River Community Band and was the soloist at her high school graduation. Good luck to Melaina, who will attend Aaron Copland School of Music in Queens, double majoring in music performance and music education.
