With four absent, SWR school board cancels meeting

The Shoreham-Wading River school board cancelled its meeting Tuesday night after a majority of board members were not in attendance, a requirement under the state Open Meetings Law.

Board members Rich Pluschau, Marie Lindell, Jack Costas and Leo Greeley did not attend the meeting, which was supposed to be held in the high school library at 8 p.m.

The board was expected to vote on a measure that would allow former assistant superintendent for human resources Lou Curra provide mentoring services to William Bushman, who was recently appointed to fill that role, at a cost of $8,500 to the district.

That measure will be voted on, along with others on Tuesday’s agenda, at the next meeting, which has yet to be scheduled.
