The weekend guide: Spend a ‘night out’ in downtown Riverhead

• East End Arts and 12 downtown Riverhead restaurants will host “A Night Out in Riverhead” Friday evening. The event will feature dining discounts, a free concert, a gallery opening and art lecture.

The following restaurants will participate in the event: Athens Grill, complimentary glass of wine (for a party of 2) with the purchase of an entrée or complimentary bottle of wine (for a party of 4) with the purchase of an entrée; Cliff’s Rendezvous, 5% off the bill; Cody’s BBQ and Grill, free appetizer with the purchase of an entrée; Dark Horse Restaurant, Buy-One-Get-One-Free on all local tap beers and wine; $19.95 prix fixe dinner; both deals 4:30-6:30PM only; Digger O’Dell’s, one free appetizer per couple with dinner entrées; Hyatt Place East End, complimentary Starbucks Coffee; Jerry & the Mermaid, Complimentary ice cream crepe with the purchase of a dinner entrée; Parto’s, 10% off the bill; Riverhead Diner & Grill. free beverage with entrée or meal between 4-8PM, The Riverhead Project, toast at Marquee Lighting Ceremony; Turkuaz Grill, 10% off the bill; and  Tweeds, free glass of house wine.

The night will culminate with a marquee lighting ceremony at the historic Suffolk Theater. Theater owners Bob and Dianne Castaldi will throw the switch on the new digital marquee, installed as part of current renovation efforts at theater, built in 1933 but closed in 1987. A toast will be presented by the Riverhead Project.

• Fran Johnson, whose nephew Michael Hubbard was severely injured in a gel candle accident in May, is hosting a yard sale for the family this weekend at her home at 81 Rabbit Run in Riverhead. If you have a gently used item to donate, call her at 369-9076. Stop by and check it out.

• The 35th annual Antique Show & Sale will be held at Old Steeple Community Church on Main Road in Aquebogue Monday. The event was originally scheduled for August 27, but was cancelled due to last week’s storm.

Donations are $6 and children under 12 free. There will be over 65 dealers, lunch, baked goods and vegetables available for sale in fellowship hall. Call 516-868-2751 or email [email protected] for more information.
