Hampton Deli seized for failing to pay taxes

TIM GANNON PHOTO | Hampton Deli in Flanders was seized for failure to pay state taxes.

The Hampton Deli in Flanders was seized for failure to pay state taxes Wednesday, state officials said

The Flanders Road eatery has three outstanding tax warrants for $26,400.10 in withholding taxes and for an additional $7,155.35 and $431.34 in sales tax, authorities said.

“There are limits to what we can say more specifically since tax information is protected,” said Ed Walsh, a spokesperson for the State Department of Taxation and Finance.

No one answered the phone at the establishment Friday. The deli was also reportedly seized for failing to pay taxes in April, but soon reopened.

Tax problems were not the only troubles the eatery is facing. The establishment was cited for 12 Suffolk County health code violations on its last visit, including eight pertaining to not storing food at the proper temperature.
