Photos: 9/11 art exhibit opens Friday in Riverhead

The much-anticipated 9/11 Memorial Exhibit had its opening reception Friday evening at the Suffolk County Historical Society center in Riverhead.

Aside from an array of photos, paintings and sculptures all having to do with Sept. 11, visitors were able to view a 30-minute video called “We Will Never Forget,” which was of oral histories from seven people recalling their experiences of 9/11, and other displays.

The art show is the first ever collaboration between the historical society and Riverhead Free Library in the library’s 115-year and the Riverhead-based historical society’s 125-year history. It will be on exhibit through Oct. 1.
