Health Beat: McGuires dontates to Breast Health Coalition

• McGuire’s Hearing Services will be contributing to the North Fork Breast Health Coalition during October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The company will donate a portion of its proceeds from the hearing devices it sells during the month, as it did last year. But this year is particularly significant because a staff member succumbed to the disease several months ago and the donation effort is dedicated to her memory, according to company owner, David Carr. McGuire’s maintains offices in Greenport, Riverhead, Southampton and Patchogue, as well as two locations in the Bronx.

• As part of the Senior Wellness Education Series, Southold Town’s Human Services and Eastern Long Island Hospital present ‘How do you feel about … ?’, an open-ended discussion of the changes that come with age. The program takes place Friday, Oct. 7, 11 a.m. to noon, at the town senior center in Mattituck. The series is funded by Long Island Home through a grant from the New York State Office of Mental Health. For transportation, call 298-4460.
